Ros had a hugely successful few days at Blair. She led the CCI4*S from pillar to post on Izilot DHI, making it a 1-2 with Rehy Royal Diamond.
It was very nearly a clean sweep; MHS Seventeen finished fourth!
“Izilot DHI is possibly the most talented horse I have ever sat on, but also the quirkiest,” she says. “He’s hugely exciting to ride and a pleasure when he is in the right mood. It’s always a case of keeping his mind in the right place and keeping him happy and onside.
“I took the horses to Blair to set them up for their autumn 4* long-formats; they are all at slightly different stages in their careers, but I’ve always found Blair to be a really good stepping stone in horses’ development. If they are going to be good horses they have to be able to deal with hills and mud – it’s a really good fitness run for long-format events. Jump by jump there was nothing too difficult on the cross-country but the ground made it testing. I’m delighted with them all.”
