Ros and Walter have done it again! The pair led from pillar to post, scoring 23.7 for the dressage – providing a 4.4 penalty lead over the field.
Across country they were foot perfect, coming home well inside the optimum time, increasing their lead to 6.6 penalties.
By the time they showjumped on Sunday afternoon that lead was over 10 penalties, which came down to eight after Ros didn’t push for the time and picked up two penalties (retaining her two fences in hand).
The pair’s record-breaking third Badminton title was in the bag, along with the biggest cash prize in eventing – not forgetting a raft of other prizes for Ros, owners Archie and Michele Saul, groom Sarah Charnley and even Pennie Wallace, breeder of Walter.
Definitely one for the history books.
